LAHORE: Kicking off a crackdown, Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) has decided to ban all illegal Indian channels nationwide, media reported Saturday.
According to our correspondent, the decision was taken at a meeting between Pemra chairman Absar Alam and Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif.
Reports said the Pemar chief warned that strict action would be taken as per law after Oct 15 if TV channels and distribution networks failed to follow directions of the regulatory body and continued to use illegal DTH (direct-to-home) decoders.
Reports said the Pemra chief has taken Punjab chief minister into confidence over the forthcoming crackdown. -Web Desk
