Azad Kashmir elections to be held on Thursday


MUZAFFARABAD: Polling for 41 constituencies in Azad Jammu and Kashmir would be held on Thursday.

According to details, as many as 423 candidates are participating in the elections while 26,74,586 people would exercise their voting right.

The constituencies have 11,90,839 female and 14,83,747 male voters.

Sources told that strong competition will be seen between Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Muslim Conference.

On the other hand, the security personnel have declared Bagh, Haveli, Charhoi, Kharo Shah and Nakkial as most sensitive. The local administration has deployed four army offices at sensitive polling stations while only army men would be deputed in other constituencies.

Frontier corps and police officers would also perform duties during the elections.

Moreover, central control room of Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has been established in Muzaffarbad.
