Sindh Public Service Commission stayed from appointments

ISLAMABAD: Supreme Court of Pakistan Monday stopped Sindh Public Service Commission from making further appointments till it rules on the case regarding the appointment of commission’s chairman.

Heading a bench of the apex court hearing the suo-moto case over the appointment of the chairman and members of the public service commission, Chief Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali said the court would not allow the SPSC to function until it is satisfied as an undeserving man has been appointed the commission’s chairman.

Additional Advocate General submitted if the commission is forbidden from making further recruitments, the system will collapse, as the process of doctors’ recruitment is currently in progress.

The government of Sindh counsel Farooque H Naik said the SPSC chairman is eligible for the post as he has served on different government positions for last 20 years.

Justice Khilji Arif wondered if there is any system in the country or not. Later, the bench adjourned the hearing till November 03.-Web Desk
