SUKKUR: (Web Desk) Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief and Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) president Moulana Fazlur Rehman on Tuesday said that announced weeklong nationwide protest starting Friday over publication of blasphemous caricatures in France.
Addressing a press conference in Sukkur on Tuesday, he said that it is strange that the Europe which calls itself a follower of Hazrat Issa (AS), but the Muslims have to protest when there is an attempt to insult Prophet Issa (AS).
The JUI-F chief said that the publication of blasphemous caricatures has hurt the sentiments of Muslims all over the world, adding that the blasphemous sketches were hung on French government buildings at the behest of the President Emmanuel Macron. These people have become apathetic about religion, we do not accept their thinking and philosophy, he said.
The PDM president while condemning the blast at the madrassa said that the incident was unfortunate and our sympathies are with the heirs of the martyrs and the wounded.
“If the government and state institutions cannot protect us, I would appeal to the madrassas to make arrangements for their security,” he added.
Fazl went on to say that October 27 is a day of solidarity with Kashmiris and we stand by our Kashmiri brothers in their just struggle.
To a question, he said that the PDM will continue to rallies until the nation gets back its vote.
Commenting on Prime Minister Imran Khan s statement regarding former president and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supremo Nawaz Sharif, the JUI-F chief said if the prime minister is serious, he should take the responsibility of protecting the lives and property of the people. He alleged that the NAB has become a vindictive body which is being used against the opposition. Regarding the islands, he said our position is clear that the provinces have a right to it.
