LAHORE: Flour Mills Association observe strike today as deadlock remains between millers and Food Department.
A new flour crisis is looming as mills of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Balochistan and all 930 flour mills of Punjab remained closed today.
According to Punjab Food Department, there is demand of 2.2 million 20kg flour bags in Punjab while only Lahore needs 175,000 bags of flour. Closure of mills have disturbed supply of flour which has raised concerns about shortage of flour in the city.
On call of Pakistan Flour Mills Association, mills of KP were also closed for indefinite period while mills in Balochistan have also voiced their support for the association’s demands.
