ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry on Friday has decided not to attend the ongoing National Assembly (NA) sessions after three reporters and two senators tested positive for deadly coronavirus.
The minister took to social-networking website and wrote, “On the request of deputy speaker, I had decided to attend today’s session but three parliamentary reporters and two senators have tested positive for the virus.”
“It is clear that the reporters had contracted the virus from the Parliament building. Because of this, I have decided to postpone my plan and I hope a virtual session will be called now,” Fawad Chaudhry stated.
On the other hand, National Assembly has resumed its session at the Parliament House in Islamabad with Presiding Officer Amjad Ali Khan Niazi in the chair.
The session is being held under strict adherence of health guidelines and standard operating procedures to ensure safety of the members and the assembly staff. –Web Desk
