ISLAMABAD: (Web Desk) Deadlock between federal government and opposition persists over four laws related to Financial Action Task Force (FATF) requirements.
According to sources, opposition has demanded to end jurisdiction of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on money laundering issues as it fears that the anti-graft watchdog can use these powers against politicians. Opposition is willing to support government in amending anti-money laundering act to end NAB’s jurisdiction on the matter.
Sources further said that deadlock also persists on criminal and waqf and trust laws and it has also refused to sit down with any minister of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and said that consultations on amendments can only be held with the Law minister.
