KARACHI: The Sindh government has decided to end restrictions over shopping malls and markets following the Supreme Court’s directions, media reported on Monday.
Sources familiar with the matter have informed that the provincial regime is likely to issue new timings for markets soon and shopping malls will open under standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Sindh Education and Labour Minister Saeed Ghani spoke to media earlier today and said we are bound to follow the Supreme Court’s orders and will allow markets to remain open on weekends.
The provincial minister further added that women are bringing children to markets with them and the government is concerned over this practice.
It is pertinent here to mention that the apex court, while conducting hearing of a suo motu case on coronavirus today, nullified the decision of keeping business activities in the country closed on Saturdays and Sundays. The top court further directed Karachi commissioner to open all sealed markets of the metropolis.
